What's the point of even dating in India?

Most of your parents hate the idea of dating, u have to hide your relationship from your teachers/ professors or they make your life a living hell. Some places don't even want unmarried couples. So what is the point of dating, if it is only to go out with someone, that you can do with your friends. At least then you are not trying to hide from your neighbour aunty. It is so annoying that you can't bring your boyfriend/ girlfriend home, just peacefully chill or even go out because you are trying to hide your relationship every step of the way. So really....why even date?
