How useful were your qualifications?

I left education at 18 with a handful of O and A levels.

While a lot of that knowledge has proven it’s worth, the actual qualifications have been completely unnecessary for me. My career has gone well, I’m happy in my work and make a decent wage.

Did your qualifications help you, or were they essentially pointless?

Edit: I feel I need to add that I’m not trying to say that qualifications are pointless. I’m fully aware that many career paths require specific education. However, due to my personal circumstances I left education reasonably early and took on a job where no one ever needed any qualifications from me.

There’s a lot of pressure on kids to gain qualifications, and it causes them much stress as they believe their entire lives depend on their exam results, whereas the truth is that it is entirely possible to have a long and successful career with none at all.
