Rip 540d
Car is a total loss. Over 36.000€ to repair it.
A little backstory: One day i got a letter from BMW for a recall regarding a exhaust heat exchanger or something like that. Ok i said and left the car at my local shop.
The next day i picked it up. All was good.
A day later i had longer jurney planed and took of on the autobahn. At some point when accelerating (about 4000rpm) it lost power with a limited engine speed of about 2200rpm. No error codes. Restarting the car fixed it. Called the shop they said its probably ok. After we came back the same day we parked it back at the shop.
They read the car for error codes the next day and testdrove it and it was fine.
Next day we took it back and tried it out again. Again a loss of power. On the same evening we wanted to drive back to the shop to leave it there over night so they could back to it in the morning. On this drive it happened. A loud noise like a spinning turbine appeared when accelerating. Drove the last 4km to the shop though the city very slowly. Left it over night there.
Get a call the next morning. Turns out a screw got sucked into the turbo and completely destroyed it. Nothing of the blades was left. The almost funny thing about is that THE SCREW WASN'T EVEN FROM THIS CAR. They were very sorry and said they will fix it but it will take about 2 months (end of November until mid January). About 9000€ they said it would cost them. Luckily i had the option to use my parents and work van for this time. They offered a replacement car for the time but we declined.
Got a call this week. Excited i picked up the phone hopeing to hear that i can pick my car up. Instead i hear a "yea its fucked" not literally but you get the point. They said there i metal pieces everywhere.
This is were i stand now. The insurance of them will pay us out. How much will have to be debated. Wish me luck.
English is not my first language so sorry for grammer and stuff.
