Anyone else thinks that BG being alive was a broken promise?

Just wanted to talk about this with you guys. I mean I didn't expected a RDR2 level of things, and this really doesn't affect how good the game is, but if you go to their steam page (or see the videos on tiktok) you will hear A LOT that the game is "alive", that every NPC will have a background, that every person you see will be living their own lives.

It just... isn't true? I just crossed a woman in the streets of BG3 that was asking for money to feed her child, and I couldn't toss a coin to her. Most NPC's are just standing still everywhere. In your camp your followers will not make a single animation (like gale reading a spell book or anything at all) and people will only react if you attack them.

There is a quest in Act 3 where Karlach asked to see the dead body of Gortash. I put the body in my bag and broguht to camp. She didn't reacted to it. I had to dismiss a companion, put her in my party, then loot the body while she was selected. Like couldn't they just prompt the custscene when the body is near?

I don't know exactly what they wanted to say with that, but it didn't seem like it worked.
