Help!

Hi, I've recently started a sculptural pattern and I cant figure out the start of it! All four beeds are suppose to be facing the same direction but no matter what I do they end up looking like more of a cross (pictures included for both). I even tried beading on tape but even with that my tension was either too loose or if I tightened it they would still move. Any tips or help would be great! Thank you!!
