Soft blanket

I am thinking about ditching the duvet and just getting a quilt for various reasons. I would like to put a nice, soft blanket underneath the quilt to give it a little more weight. Any recs? No faux fur as I live in Florida. I felt the pottery barn waffle blanket it was pretty rough feeling. Thanks.
