Chronic stye issues
I’ve been dealing with reoccurring styes/chalazions ever since June of 2023. At first I was given two rounds of anti-botics that seemed to help, but a couple months later it had returned. Not just one but three had appeared, the first one on my right eyelid lasted a good three months until my ophthalmologist decided I would need to get it surgically removed. In October of 2023, I received my first surgery, followed by another one in December 2024 and a third one in April 2024, all targeting different parts of my eyelids, all four of my eyelids has had styes removed. After this it seemed to calm down a bit and I graduated high school without a stye. I would have a couple small styes form and go away on itself. But come around August 2024, I had another one form which took a while to go away, but it did. Now in January of 2025, I have another one, and it’s affecting me quite a bit.
Mentally I was in the worst place possible when the stye issue was in its worst stage. I struggled with my confidence and refused to make eye contact with anyone. My friends would make jokes, and people would point it out, it affected me so much to the point I had thought maybe I wouldn’t have to deal with this issue if I was no longer here.
I don’t wear makeup, I have a routine to avoid getting styes or chalazions. I usually start with a hot compress, followed by washing my eyelids with soap, baby shampoo, and then I use micellar water to clean them, and my steroid to help with redness and stop any styes from forming. I also do hot compresses throughout the day if I can feel the stye forming. I’ve been doing this for the past year and I still get styes, I’m starting to really lose any hope of getting better.
I haven’t gotten any diagnosis of anything, so I have no clue what’s happening. I hate it so much, I see the way people’s eyes shift to look at it, I feel like a monster. I really just want to know if it gets better, and I don’t have to worry about being in pain for up to 3 weeks as the stye slowly goes away.
Is there any tips on how to stop them from forming?
