Wheel alignment?

Got the car (bmw 520d 2016) not long ago and the front left tyre has some serious wear in its outer side.

Now I recently was in bmw dealership for a recall and asked them whether I need a wheel alignment done - they said it’s fine and is just a result of dry steering.

Everywhere else I check indicates that I do need to get it done. So just wanted to hear some opinions?

My guess is to do the alignment and swap this tyre to the back so it can live for another season or two. (No cords are exposed)
