Need help to sound natural.

How would you naturally say “to bag something”? I thought you would use 包 as the verb, but now I’m thinking it would depend on the object. Like if I said 包书 wouldn’t it be “wrap the book?” And if I said 把书放在包子里，would “put it in the bag” be the same as “to bag it”? I know it’s just semantics, but I’m curious if it changes anything on either the English and Chinese side and just how that translation could work.
