Thunderlord and Bolt Charge/ Storm’s keep

So while messing with Thunderlord during some nether runs I noticed that if you shoot it behind a storm's keep enhanced barricade, the bolt charge lightning strikes will add ammo to the gun like the bolts you normally call down. I'm able to keep shooting without stopping as long as there are targets/ a long dps phase when normally I would run out unless I use war rig.
