Coddling (straight white) men who voted for Trump is abuser/abuse apologist mentality

Is that strong language? Yes, it is, but IMO 100% justified.

Amidst an ocean of women and other disenfranchised groups very understandably fearing for their rights and safety, there's an infuriating number of people suggesting that this is because men (of the white, cisgender, heterosexual variety) haven't been 'listened' to or that women haven't been 'kind' enough to them.

This is, quite literally, the same playbookk that abusers follow. The idea that any vile action an abuser does is never really their fault, it's because someone made them do it.

And we all know that abusers above all else want to control their victims. Given the chants of 'your body, my choice', do I really need to elaborate further?

Men that knew exactly what Trump is like and chose to vote for him are exercising control on a societal level over women, and in terms of material impact that's just as abusing someone within a relationship.

N.B. Before anyone mentions that many women, people of colour, LGBT etc. also voted Trump, you're not wrong. But as well as straight white men being easily the biggest voting bloc, they're the one group who actively benefits from others being put down.
