Glucose testing during labour?

I'm 37(2) and they just scheduled my induction for 39 weeks. My GD midwife has just explained that when they start the oxytocin drip during labour they will want me to test my sugars every hour? I feel like labour is going to be challenging enough for a FTM and now they want me to keep pricking myself. I'm in Ireland did anyone else have this?
