Best worldbuilding?

Hi, I searched the sub and didn't find this question, but maybe I missed something, so few free to point me in that direction if I have. This question is half request, half discussion. I just finished Pretty Twisted Things by Ariana Nash and I was not really a fan of the romance, but I found the worldbuilding very compelling. So, what are your favorite worlds? This could be that they did something original or really explored the implications of some aspect in a way you found compelling or just one that stuck with you. I'm mostly thinking about sci-fi/fantasy here, but anything like that will suffice.

Two top contenders for me are (Icarus, Burning)[https://archiveofourown.org/works/17474366/chapters/41152589] and Taji From Beyond The Rings by R. Cooper

My hard nos are cops as MCs/LIs and unexamined conservatism. Soft nos for deep dives into homophobia (internalized or otherwise) and meanness between the MCs

Bonus points for books with antiauthoritarian messages, subversion of "uncivilized barbarian" tropes, and trans (ftm) MCs. Also if you could explain what it is that you like about the book, that'd be swell! I find it a lot harder to connect with just a name and title, and even if I read the description, it's nice to know what you like about it :)
