This sub is soooo…..

As someone born in South Miami Hospital and who has called Miami home to this day despite moving for college — it irritates me how anti-miami this MIAMI subreddit is.

As someone going to graduate school and researching all my options, I stumble onto a lot of other large city subreddits to learn a bit about the community/area. What I’ve found is this subreddit is the most negative one of them all. Those other subs have WARRIORS in their midst fighting the transplants and tourists who ask/have stupid or disparaging questions/remarks.

Meanwhile, it feels as though transplants are the ones RUNNING this subreddit and the natives who have already decided to move anyway are there egging them on. As someone who loves this city, you people make me sick!! Don’t lurk/join a subreddit of a city you hate or dislike.

Every day it’s “Do you still like the city?” “Anyone moving?” “I moved and I’m so happy” WE DONT CARE. You moved? Post it in THAT city’s subreddit then.

Does Miami have its issues? Fuck yes. But the only thing in this subreddit shouldn’t be people beating a dead horse in its grave. And it DAMN sure shouldn’t be coming from people who CHOSE to move here or who decided to leave and no longer live here.
