Do you use your bedroom when you're not asleep?
tl;dr: is using your bedroom for non-sleep hobbies an embarrassing Manchild Alert thing or nah
I'm an adult, but I often go to the bedroom for a quiet place to read, journal, watch a show that I know nobody else is interested in watching - for a bunch of quiet alone time activities, basically. I was chatting with my mom and she was shocked to hear that, because adults only use the bedroom for sleeping and sex - every other activity should be in the living room/den/etc, and using the bedroom for anything else is only for children, teens and college kids stuck in dorms.
Personally, I don't think it's weird at all to use the bedroom as a quiet space or occasionally want a bit more privacy than the living room/kitchen/etc offer, but is it a faux pas I was just unaware of? It had never even occurred to me! I live in a condo, so I don't have a media room or a basement etc. I could turn into the dedicated "semi-private zen time room." Should I be embarrassed that I can't afford a big enough home to do that and have to make the bedroom serve that purpose instead? Or should I work on outgrowing the whole "quiet time" thing and just do those hobbies in the living room?
