I am reading Rock and sand and came across the confession of Dositheos
I am an inquirer soon to receive the blessing of the catechumens in about 2 weeks. I have come across this orthodox confession and the question and answers part is troublesome to me, this may be due to my protestant presuppositions but the idea that reading the old testament is forbidden seems problematic. I understand that evidently scripture has been twisted because to the many errors of the protestant church and catholics but is a ban necessary? Also is the confession binding ?
Or maybe is scripture not a “bible study book” like I have been raised to believe but a tool or part of the faith and as orthodox the church, sacraments, scripture etc are then together the foundation that the faith rather than solely scripture?
Maybe I answered my own question and maybe I am proving this holy fathers point lol, but excuse my ignorance.
