Thinning hair

I’ve always had very thick but fine hair. Since turning 40 the texture has changed and it’s getting a lot thinner along the temples.

Has anyone tried any of the shampoos that claim to help? I’ve been looking at a few reviews but I never know wether to really trust those or not
