Trying to find wild Applin in South Province (Area 2), any rare encounter tips?

I already have two Applin in my box, but they came from Tera Raids and have different Tera Types. I'm trying to find a wild Applin but am having no luck at this stage. It's profile in the Pokédex says it hangs on trees and is rarely seen, but I've had its icon appear on my map a few times it just never shows up in the area, and when I leave its icon disappears. I tried eating food that boosted Dragon encounters but it didn't help. Any advice on trying to find rarer Pokémon?
