Rejected by on2 dancers

I went to my first salsa Congress this weekend in Europe. I am an intermediate/ advanced on1 dancer and generally get good feedback on my lead.

But I was quite demoralised by what happened during the social dancing when on 4 separate occasions after I asked someone to dance, I was rejected for not being an on2 dancer. I've those followers would only dance on2.

What do you all think about this?

On the one hand it's left me resolved to learn on2. On the other hand I'm wondering if these are just salsa snobs and I shouldn't want to dance with them anyway
