I’m sorry, Caroline Hirons’ skincare is HOW MUCH!? [misc]

UK friends, bear with me here. I need smelling salts. I spotted Caroline Hirons’ new range of skincare in liberty today. Beautiful colourful packaging. I asked the sales assistant what the price point was and even she couldn’t keep a straight face.

£32 for a basic cream face wash. Almost £60 for a basic moisturiser. Almost £70 for a retinoid. Not to mention sixty quid for an oil made of jojoba and squalane!

I actually feel disappointed because to me it undermines everything that Caroline stood for. She told us what ingredients were good, what we didn’t need to do, made us sceptical of super price manipulation. And now she’s gone and done it herself. There’s premium priced/ luxury skincare and there’s a micktake – it looks just the same as Geek & Gorgeous. And do you know what, liberty was busy yet nobody was at that counter… I do wonder what just a 10 – 15% price recalibration would due to sales volumes.
