Any advice please

My 5YO child has recently started school, and another child in his class is really physical and says lots of mean things (I have witnessed this, some real vile stuff). We don’t want to rock the boat as we’ll likely know this family for a long time. Is this something that the children will sort out themselves? Any advice from those that have been in a similar position would be much appreciated.
