Steps taken for pyq analysis

With your emphasis on the answer to my question in a previous post "how do you guys clear prelims multiple time with consistency?" as to focus on PYQ analysis. I have taken a few steps.

  1. I have started to note down topics asked and also the other choices in a PYQ and making notes for it.
  2. I am trying to understand the theme of questions they ask like many said. But I'm still doubtful whether I have understood what you guys said properly or not. I'm seeing a river question in one year in geography so in the next year a river question is not there. So if one river question comes this year it wont come next year. Is this what theme analysis mean? More clarity regarding this will help.

And also correct me if im wrong. We do PYQ analysis like this so that we can hope UPSC repeats what we have noted down with the above perspective? But I'm still not seeing the "patterns" some of you guys said or "it's all in the PYQs buddy". Should I just keep seeing the PYQs again and again and hope that I may see the demand of the exam? Because for me still the questions are still random for a year. that is im not seeing how PYQs play a role in this.
