My thoughts on the ships in the show

Personally, I tend to gravitate towards a ship based on the actors' chemistry and overall vibes. There have been plenty of times when I’ve shipped characters who weren’t meant to be together, but I did it anyway because I liked their dynamic—whether it was between the characters themselves or the actors portraying them. So here are some of my unbiased thoughts on several of the ships we have here (please don’t start any shipping wars 🙏).

Kitty & Dae - Our initial ship. Honestly, they were pretty adorable together. I loved their dynamic, and I think the actors had really sweet chemistry. They gave off the quintessential "first love" vibe, and honestly, I wouldn’t even be mad if they got back together. But as of now, I don’t see how that would happen. It doesn’t feel like the story is heading in that direction anymore after this season. Kitty has long moved on, even if Dae hasn’t fully.

Dae & Eunice - Okay, but they’re so cute! They both have this innocent, wholesome quality to them. I think Eunice is really adorable and quirky, and she has the potential to bring Dae out of his shell. The actors also look great together. I see a lot of potential here, so I hope they end up together if we get another season. But Dae probably needs to figure out what he really wants first.

Kitty & Yuri - One of the main ships here—and deservedly so—because they shared a lot of screen time together, especially in Season 1, almost rivaling Kitty & Dae. They also have a solid backstory. Personally, I do think the characters have chemistry, and if they were to end up together, it would make sense. However, I feel like the actors don’t quite have the kind of chemistry that translates well romantically on screen.

Don’t get me wrong—I love them—but the on-screen energy they give off leans more towards best friends or even sisterly vibes. Their chemistry just isn’t as charged or tension-filled as I would like. I can believe that Kitty has a crush, but beyond that, it doesn’t quite translate. That being said, from a character and storytelling perspective, it makes sense. I would totally root for them if it didn’t feel so one-sided. I just wish I could feel it more on screen without having to rely on editing, background music, or sound effects to create that spark.

Yuri & Juliana - These two, on the other hand, have so much natural chemistry! I feel like I’m in the minority here because not many people seem to ship them, but I actually really liked them together. They have a lot of history since Season 1, and we’ve seen them overcome obstacles just to be together. They were pretty much the embodiment of the "us against the world" trope in the first season.

What makes their relationship stand out is that you can see they love each other equally. Plus, the actors’ natural chemistry translates really well on screen. And dare I say—the actress playing Juliana is one of the stronger performers in this cast, no offense. I think her acting makes the chemistry feel even more believable.

Juliana & Praveena - Sadly, we didn’t get to see much of Praveena to form a solid opinion. That said, she’s gorgeous and seems like a fun, cool character. I hope we get to see more of her next season!

Kitty & Praveena - Same as above—not enough of Praveena to say much. But from what we’ve seen so far, Kitty doesn’t seem that interested in her. There’s not much chemistry either, because even though Kitty said she liked Praveena, it felt more like a friendship type of "like."

Kitty & Minho - Our other main ship. Truthfully, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Minho in the first few episodes of Season 1. I thought he was unnecessarily rude at first, but then I realized he’s just sassy with everyone. But then came the Chuseok episode, and oh boy—I was converted.

I’m not exactly sure what it was, but maybe it was their conversation in the kitchen? I felt a connection there. Despite having less screen time compared to Kitty & Dae or Kitty & Yuri, the actors had a great amount of on-screen chemistry, which kinda overshadowed everything else. There was chemistry even when they were annoyed with each other—at least for me. That’s why, by the end of Season 1, I found myself gravitating towards them the most.

I also really appreciate the gradual evolution of their relationship. It wasn’t a sudden 180-degree shift; rather, it developed over time, from constant annoyances to friendship—and maybe something more? Anyway, I’m a huge fan of couples with a fun, teasing, flirty banter dynamic, so I can’t help but prefer this pairing over the other Kitty ships.

Q & Jin - Okay, I really like them! They’re a textbook rivals-to-lovers ship. Not gonna lie—I was skeptical at first because Jin was definitely up to no good. But there was some solid character development there, though I wish we had gotten more of it.

It’s unfortunate that this season was so short in terms of runtime and episode count. I feel like we didn’t get enough depth when it came to their relationship. Similar to Dae & Eunice, I wish we could’ve seen more of their dynamic develop.
