I've been playing for a dozen+ hours, 0 wins
I get the game isn't supposed to be easy, and I have been unlocking things. But even after all the time I've put in, I have managed to get to Ante 7 once, and then I lost because the gimmick was that the number was obscenely high and I just couldn't reach it.
I just really don't understand what I'm doing wrong, or what I could be doing better. When to save, when to reroll, when to buy, when to sell because a card is no longer optimal. I get that I need good combos that add chips, and additive multipliers, and multiplicative multipliers, and earn coins, but I just seem to have the worst luck ever. Even when I do get a run where I get a card I've heard is crazy good, like Campfire, I end up losing immediately after I get it anyway. Then there's multiple runs where I genuinely get nothing useful and restart by ante 2/3. Then I get a card that allows me to feel like I'm doing well, for a little, then I lose because my first hand didn't earn enough points and the rest of my hands have nothing good.
I think I'm abusing my discards too much too early, but that's the only way I've felt like I could beat a stage is by just chucking away cards until I can slap down a full house or something. But it's obviously a bad strategy because later antes it just doesn't keep up.
It's starting to lose the glamour it had at the beginning, and now just feels like a wall I keep beating my head against until something gives. I need some advice. But I've read through threads with advice, and it's all basically boiled down to the same stuff, and it hasn't helped me yet, so idk what anyone could actually say that'd make it click for me.
Edit : hey, I beat it. I ended up with a pretty good combo. I had Bull, Joker, Flash Card, Shoot the Moon, Baseball Joker, Mime.
I had a bunch of cards turned into Queens, a bunch of steel cards and enhanced kings. And I was making a lot of gold, so I ended up buying lots of planets and arcana and got a few specter cards or whatever they are.
Anyway, can't remember all the details, and I looked away, so I don't know how it happened but one round got crazy high, into the 6 million area.
This run I noticed at some point high card was doing insane because my multipliers were just so big, and so I started buying Plutos which ended with High Card carrying me. I didn't always win in one hand, but I was for quite a while. Discarded until I had hands full of multipliers then played an Ace, King, ot Jack, even better if an enhanced one.
Anyway, that was rather exciting, but I think I just got lucky with an OP combo rather than having figured anything out yet.
