Scent review - Warm Vanilla SugarđĻ
Good morning, B&BW friends! Moonrose here! Today I'll be reviewing Warm Vanilla Sugar, as requested by u/happy-case - let's do it!
Scent notes: intoxicating vanilla, white orchid, sparkling sugar, fresh jasmine and creamy sandalwood
Warm Vanilla Sugar is in the vanilla category (shocking, I know), but it's not quite a gourmand, at least not to me. I say this because it doesn't smell enough like an actual food to qualify as a gourmand. It's less 'vanilla frosting' and more 'vanilla statement piece'. The kind of statement piece that spawns countless imitators - the Tiffany bracelet of the Bath and Body Works world.
When first sprayed, Warm Vanilla Sugar has this odd tang to it that reminds me of Play-Doh, of all things. Luckily, this disappears pretty quickly and the actual scent begins to emerge.
This claims to have orchid and jasmine in it, but I'm not picking up on either. I do know that vanilla comes from a species of orchid, so maybe that's what they mean? Regardless, during the entire wear no florals appear for me.
The vanilla in Warm Vanilla Sugar is a clean one. It's not gooey and decadent, but rather fresh. In my opinion, this makes the scent stand out amongst a sea of cupcakey and more simple vanillas.
The sugar note in this is not a molassey brown sugar or a caramely burnt sugar. This is white sugar for sure - airy, soft and barely there, just enough to tie the vanilla and sandalwood together.
This sandalwood is the softest and most feminine variety I've ever smelled - delicate, creamy and warm. There's no real woodiness to it at all, it just adds an aura of comfort and intimacy.
On my skin, Warm Vanilla Sugar doesn't change much during the wear, aside from the Play-Doh effect I get at first, but it only lasts a few seconds so we won't count that against it.
From beginning to end, Warm Vanilla Sugar is sweet, cozy, and utterly lovely. It's a classic for a reason, and I'm very happy to have it in my collection.
