Adult autism assessment recommendations

Does anyone have any advice or recommendations for obtaining an adult assessment for ASD. I have googled, I know the first step would be to make a referral request with my doctor. But does anyone have any experience with someone in particular? My current psychiatrist has gone on leave until May. I haven’t seen them since October. I can’t wait that long. Thank you, and please no judgement.
