Does anyone have any suggestions for potential medical career paths?
I have a Bachelor's in health science, minor in psychology with a below average GPA. I was planning on the PA route for emergency medicine, but the field is so oversaturated and competitive so I bailed on applying once I realized I wasn't 100% set on this career. I've been working full time since 18- scribe in emergency departments, ENT, and now a surgical assistant for an oral surgery practice (9 years medical field experience). I am very interested in anesthesiologist assistant graduate programs, but again, they are very competitive and I didn't get in this last cycle despite my relevant work experience. I'm about to be 30 and I'm not sure how much time and money I want to try getting into a program (having to retake the GRE/possibly MCAT) although I'm very invested as I have found a passion for anesthesia with my current job, and the debt to income ratio is manageable.
Just wanted to post on here to see what other career paths and options are available with already being in student loan debt, I'm willing to go back to school, but I do want it to be worth it financially.
