Meet Egg

Hi all!

We have just picked up our new family member Egg today! 12 weeks old, hand raised, and we think they are a female (but haven’t tested).

We got Egg to be a companion to our 3-4 year old female, but we are just wondering what is the best way to go about settling Egg into the home.

Currently we have her in a separate room, with view of a window but with the cage partially covered so she feels safe. I’ve never had a cockatiel this young, so wondering what her day-to-day environment should look like. Should we keep checking in on her every hour, or give her quiet time to settle in? She has been out of the cage for cuddles (pictured) but she seemed very unsure. I’m also hearing conflicting information about if her seeds need to be moist and/or sprouting or if she can just eat a normal “adult” diet?

We hopefully want to move her into our main living area where the other bird is, and then eventually get them both a larger cage to share once they are happy and friendly with each other.

Any extra advice would be appreciated!
