How has islam ruined your love life ?

I (42F) grew up in a family that wasn't even particularly religious but there was still enough islam hammered in my head to scare me from anything "haram". I understood from a very young age that love was haram, boys were haram and obviously, sex was the most haram of haram things ! I remember being only 11 and explaining to a classmate I had to be a virgin when I'll get married. Fast forward 31 years, I'm 42 and I've never been in a relationship (I've only had one small fling).
