We Need To Talk About Feedback: FFXIV Players False Sense Of Entitlement
I wasn't going to post anything today but I seen this video today regarding feedback they given and the devs not implementing said feedback; then just started complaining the devs are not listening...
This had me question and I came to a realization.... The FFXIV community has a very, very big problem with false of entitlement... I'm going to be blunt here and I don't want to come off as snarky...
Your Feedback DOES NOT have to be implemented into the game just because you provided passionate feedback.
This doesn't mean CBU3 isn't listening. It could mean they just not agree or it could mean they're working on it. We don't know.
But players need to stop thinking they're not listening along with thinking their feedback must be implemented into the game just because they gave feedback.
Your Feedback IS NOT more valuable than the guy next to you.
SE has an entire time dedicated to looking at feedback. Just because the devs implement something and you question "who even asked for this?" Because they added something you personally don't like....
Someone did.
If you look outside your bubble of everybody that agrees with you, there will be 100 different other people that think differently.
And maybe their feedback has proven to be more widespread and more logical than yours.
Button bloat was a huge problem on samurai, more so for controller players like me.
Me and many people gave feedback regarding this. More so with jobs like Paladin.
It's why they gotten rid of kaiten.
Because of that, samurai has become way more easier and enjoyable to play on controller as I can fit all my attacks in a single cross hotbar. There are way more samurai players than ever.
Yoshi said he did this for player enjoyment and he was right as more people play and enjoy samurai.
People like to assume the devs don't know what they're doing because they don't listen to "your" feedback but they do. It's why FFXIV is one of the most played and popular MMOs on the market and it's only going to get bigger. Because they listen.
It's why the relic is the way it is now. People asked for easier relics and now we have it and people are happier for it.
Another thing I hear, mostly from NA and EU players is they only listen to Japanese. This couldn't be any further from the truth.
This goes back to me saying just because you haven't seen the feedback, doesn't mean it's not there. The world doesn't revolve around NA. There are around parts of the world.
I've gave lots of feedback regarding samurai back in SHB and nothing changed.
In fact they doubled down on the thing I and many others were giving feedback about. They ended up giving it two stacks. I'm talking about tsubame gaeshi.
Stop looking for excuses of why they're not listening to your feedback. Just learn to accept that the dev team didn't agree with your Feedback.
Notice how when feedback does get implemented it's more often than not feedback that many people agree that's not solely just NA or Japan, along with the dev team also agreeing.
Such as dark knight being too strong. We also complained about that along with NA and EU. Because people were making dark knight mandatory if you wanted to w1 savage or world race in ultimate.
So Stop with the "Devs only listen to the Japanese" or " The devs won't do anything unless the Japanese complain". Because that's simply not true.
In fact, the Japanese think the devs listen to NA streamer influencers too much.
Overall. We need to just learn one very big thing... This is THEIR game, not OURS.
Just because we give feedback doesn't mean they have to implement said feedback.
Your Feedback isn't more valuable than someone else.
There are various of different feedback outside your bubble/region.
If we as a community learn that, we'll learn to be more calm and understand why somethings don't get changed and why some things do.
