When did fans turn on Adam Sandler anyway?

Something I have been curious about recently was when his films got to the point where his audience got tired of his lowbrow comedy style as back in the mid 90s, he had a big fanbase, but I wonder when people had enough of him.

Like if it was Jack and Jill that marked the turning point of his decline as an actor as I sometimes hear how that movie was so reviled that even the audience who grew up with his movies had criticized the film for its awkward writing structure.
