Results from my 2023 K-pop survey !

Hi, and Happy New Years ! I have the results from the survey I posted earlier and I wanted to share them !

This is from 117 responses and from two subreddits (this one and r/kpopthoughts) !

Starting with the first question: Which do you think you listened to the most this year?

51.7% said Girl groups

39.7% said Boy groups

5.2% said soloists

3.4% said that it was a mix of both or had a different answer

Who do you think dominated the K-pop scene this year?

77.2% said Girl groups

15.3% said Boy groups

1.8% said soloists

Others mentioned it being equal or mentioned that boy groups had more success regarding sales and girl groups did better on the charts (Idk because I don't look at either of those things-)

What group/artist did you listen to the most this year?

Most popular answer: Stray Kids

2nd most popular: Seventeen

3rd most popular: Newjeans

Some of these I agreed with, and some were pretty funny (probably unintentional but still):

  • "Very boring, especially compared to last year's. It's like every artist decided to release a song that's slightly worse than their previous one"

  • "all of ygs 2023 gg releases were bad, i think zero by newjeans is a good song and better than asap"
  • "girl groups slayed so hard. i am, perfect night, super shy, new jeans, omg, either way, all devoured. personally i found bg releases this year to be pretty disappointing (except txt i love everything you do)"
  • "Please (everyone) listen to more than just the biggest, most popular groups. You are missing out on all the best songs getting released."
