In 2023, the Dallas Mavericks placed a statue of Dirk Nowitzki with the words "Loyalty Never Fades Away" into it. 2 years later, they traded their loyal generational talent to the Lakers.
You can find it outside the American Airlines Center. The statue was put up in advance of Dirk's induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame, depicting the big man's iconic one-legged fadeaway: https://www.si.com/nba/mavericks/news/loyalty-dallas-mavs-legend-dirk-nowitzki-naismith-basketball-hall-fame-ceremony-last-big-thing
This was commissioned under the prior owner and noted Atlas Shrugged enthusiast Mark Cuban following the Mavericks Finals MVP's retirement announcement. So I loyalty faded away with new ownership once the team was sold.
