Reviewing the Netherlands Pack Featuring Van Basten, Gullit, and Rijkaard
For someone who’s only spending coins to build the strongest possible AC Milan squad, this pack felt like a gift from heaven. There was no way I could pass up on it—I just had to get all the cards. After playing several games, here are my thoughts on them.
First of all, this is the AC Milan squad I’ve been building since last season, and I’m really happy with how it’s coming together. I can’t wait to add Seedorf and Kaká to complete it!
Marco Van Basten:
Van Basten's stats after 40 games
- Finishing: 10/10
- Offensive Awareness: 10/10
- Pace: 8/10
- Physicality: 9/10
- Heading: 7/10
Van Basten was a huge surprise for me. I had my reservations about him because I don’t typically use the Fox in the Box playstyle and honestly had low expectations. But oh boy, he shocked me! He’s absolutely lethal in front of goal, a true finisher.
On top of that, he’s incredibly strong—defenders struggle to take the ball off him. He’s also solid in the air, even though heading isn’t his top strength. While he’s not the fastest center-forward, his exceptional positioning and perfectly timed runs more than make up for it.
He might actually be the best striker I’ve ever used in the game—and I have all the top-tier strikers listed below
Ruud Gullit:
Ruud Gullit stats after 40 games
- Finishing: 9/10
- Offensive Awareness: 10/10
- Dribbling and Ball Control: 8/10
- Physicality: 10/10
- Passing: 7/10
Ruud Gullit is arguably the most complete player in the game, with a unique player ID that sets him apart. I’m not surprised by his performance, as I’ve used his previous Epic card, and he’s been a permanent fixture in my team ever since.
He’s an absolute physicality monster, dominating opponents in duels, and his offensive awareness ensures he makes the best runs. On top of that, he’s one of the best finishers in the game. I used to play his previous Epic card as a second striker, so having this version with the Hole Player playstyle is a fantastic upgrade. He slotted seamlessly into my team, and I honestly can’t praise him enough!
Frank Rijkaard:
- Defensive Awareness: 6/10
- Physicality: 5/10
- Aerial Duels: 9/10
- Tackling: 7/10
- Interception: 6/10
- Pace: 7/10
Now to my biggest disappointment! I had been waiting for this card for a long time, thinking it was the missing puzzle piece to complete my AC Milan squad. Out of the three available cards, this was the one I wanted most—but now, I’m not so sure. I wouldn’t be exaggerating if I said this is the worst center-back I’ve used in a long time.
His positioning is abysmal. He’s often caught sideways or drifting into midfield, leaving acres of empty space behind him, and he fails to recover in time. Having him as a center-back feels like playing with a massive hole in the middle of the defense. I even experimented with different individual instructions to address this issue, but nothing worked.
His physical strength is an absolute embarrassment. He gets shrugged off the ball repeatedly by opposing attackers, making him a complete pushover.
The only redeeming quality I found is his aerial ability—he’s genuinely solid in the air. However, that’s not enough to justify his other shortcomings.
I’ve experienced similar issues with other defenders in the past, but they seemed to improve over time. Hopefully, Konami adjusts this card in future updates, because right now, he’s far from the player I expected.
This pack is fantastic, but I would only recommend it if you’ve never had a Ruud Gullit card—his previous Epic card is still more than capable. It’s also worth considering if you don’t already have a top-tier striker. As for Rijkaard, he hasn’t worked well for me, but that doesn’t mean he won’t suit someone else’s playstyle. It’s just not the right fit for mine.
