Just had the worst cold call ever

So a week ago I called to prospect a business, had the DM name from Zoominfo, let’s call him “Michael”. I called and asked for Michale and said I’d like to talk to him about AB&C, the person who answered the phone was like oh that’s Cindy who takes care of that, I will send you to her VM. I leave a VM, and made a note to call back this week and ask for Cindy.

I never realized that the person I was talking to was not Michael.

I called today amd asked for Cindy, and said Michael said you were in charge AB&C, she asked me what did they say about me? What was your conversation like, who did you speak with? All I genuinely knew was the name Michael. She was like you’re a liar and proceeded to berate me. Said That’s imposible. I told her that was the name I had here in my system and maybe the person I spoke with last week was not Michael but I didn’t know and didn’t appreciate her questioning my integrity. She was like oh well you’re a fucking liar, I asked who you spoke with and you were so sure it was Michael. You need to work on your honesty blah blah. Then she hung up after I told her it was not ok to talk to people that way and be so fucking rude.

It was my fault for not updating the notes correctly, or getting the name of the gatekeeper, but oh man being called a liar really offended me and triggered me. I have never been treated this way in a cold call. Usually I just get told no and hung up on. Which is fine but yeah.. I hate this job 🤡
