Advice on collapsible DIY sim rig
I'm looking at building my own rig in a spare room. I need it to be able to occasionally collapse into a depth of less than 30" to make enough space that a murphy bed can be folded down — this won't be very often, only 1 or 2 times a year. So it doesn't have to be incredibly quick to collapse, this won't be happening every day.
I mostly do casual sim flying (space like Elite Dangerous or MSFS), so that's what it's being primarily designed for, but I wouldn't mind being able to put a wheel deck on here eventually to try out some sim racing. I'm also thinking I'd use it to play non-sim games — Sniper Elite, Helldivers 2, etc — in a place other than my upright desk chair.
Attached are some photos showing my initial ideas that I'm working on. Basically, the frame is in two pieces, attached with plates, which can be loosened with handles. Then the rear part of the frame (the seat and HOTAS mounts) can be slid forward so that it tucks under the monitor and forward part of the frame.

I don't have it modeled here, but I think I'd put the keyboard/mouse on something like TrakRacer's keyboard/mouse arm mount so I can swing it out of the way if I want.
Would something like this work? Any potential issues? Which series aluminum profile should I use? I've mostly been looking at parts at 8020.net since they seem to have the largest selection.
