How do you go about creating or requesting new maps for the Flat World Map Framework?

It feels like the number of new lands mods has exploded recently, like Journey to Baan Malur and Joopvandie's expansions over the borders for example. Not to mention some of the verified creations like Coven of Crones.

How do you create new maps like that? Or do you just request them from the author?
