Toddler uses "I" and "you" incorrectly

My son will be 3 next month and whenever he's talking about himself he says "you" instead of "I". If he's talking about me he will say "I" instead of "you". I've fallen into the habit of responding to him as he means it to be because I understand what's he's saying, but I worry I should be correcting him more often. Is this a normal thing at this age?

Edit to add: He has never been to daycare/preschool so most of his socialization has been with immediate family members.
