Noise canceling ear buds that will still allow me to hear my toddler’s cries?

I need something to block out snoring, but still allow me to hear my toddler either from the other room or over the monitor. I’m not sure if such a thing exists.

I have AirPods with noise canceling, but I’m worried that the ear buds plus some brown noise will drown out my toddler. Currently, I’m using Mack’s foam plugs that work okay, but I don’t love the fact that I can hear my own blood rushing into my body and my breathing.

FWIW, it’s not life or death that I hear my child, as my snoring partner will indeed wake up if she makes noise. But I just don’t like the idea that my daughter would be in distress and I wouldn’t hear it.

Any thoughts or experiences?

(Yes, I’m trying to convince my wife to get a sleep study done. I’d really rather not wear anything noise canceling at night for safety reasons, but in the interim, I need some sleep.)
