Italian-British-American couple, baby boy named Asa?
We’re an Italian and American couple living in London. Our child will be born in April 2025 but we don’t know yet if it will be a boy or a girl (and I think it will be a surprise!)
We really like the name Althea/Altea (still unsure about whether to go for Italian or American spelling) for a girl.
But we have been a bit lost with a boy name! One day we heard a name being called at the climbing gym: ‘Asa’.
We liked it immediately.
Pro: - Same spelling in Italian and English - Similar meaning to Althea (related to healing, which we really like) - Short (we have a double surname, very long)
Cons: - Different pronunciation in Italian and English (in Italian it would be something like Ahsa) - Almost unheard of in Italy - My parents are going to find it very weird - no idea about nicknames?
Solutions: Maybe alternatives to Asa (but not Ezra or Ira) Maybe add a second name which is more Italian?
What do you think? Really any thought/idea welcomed.
Thank you so much!
